Garnett Silk (born Garnet Damion Smith, 1966-1994) was a Jamaican reggae singer and Rastafarian celebrated for his emotive, powerful voice and role in the early-1990s cultural reggae revival. After beginning as a deejay he turned to singing and, working with producer Bobby Digital, released his acclaimed debut album It's Growing (1992) and the hit "Hello Mama Africa." His rising career was cut short in 1994 when he died in a house fire.

Luciano (born Jepther Washington McClymont, 1974) is a Jamaican reggae singer nicknamed "the Messenjah," known for his conscious, spiritually themed music that helped elevate roots reggae in the 1990s. His breakthrough came through producer Phillip "Fatis" Burrell's Xterminator label, yielding the 1994 Jamaican number-one "It's Me Again Jah" and the album Where There Is Life. He remains one of the most respected roots vocalists of his generation.

Conscious sing-jay deejay (Patrick Barrett, b. 1962) whose 'Fresh Vegetable' and 'Sweet Jamaica' led the early-1990s cultural revival; founder of the Flames Productions label and the Rebel Salute festival, he is a respected foundation-to-ragga deejay.

Sizzla Kalonji (Miguel Collins) is one of dancehall's most prolific artists — a Bobo Ashanti Rastafarian sing-jay (deejay and singer) whose conscious catalogue, including 'Black Woman & Child' (1997) and 'Praise Ye Jah', helped define the late-1990s culture wave alongside Luciano and Capleton.

Capleton (born Clifton George Bailey III, 1967) is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall artist from St. Mary known as "The Fireman" and "The Prophet." Emerging as a deejay in the early 1990s with hits like "Alms House" and "Tour," he embraced Rastafari and Bobo Ashanti themes by mid-decade, recording for Def Jam and releasing the acclaimed album More Fire (2000) with anthems such as "Jah Jah City." He also stages the annual charity concert A St Mary Mi Come From.

Anthony B (born Keith Anthony Blair, 1976) is a Jamaican Rastafarian deejay who emerged in the mid-1990s conscious-reggae wave from rural Trelawny. Linking with producer Richard "Bello" Bell at Star Trail Records, he became known for militant, socially critical lyrics, most notably the 1996 single "Fire Pon Rome," which was banned from Jamaican radio for targeting the Vatican. He has since maintained a long international touring career.

Mid-1990s cultural deejay (Rohan Bennett) best known for the hit 'Kette Drum' with Beenie Man and for Nyabinghi-flavoured conscious chatter; a notable foundation-of-the-conscious-wave deejay.

Morgan Heritage are a Jamaican-American reggae band formed in 1994 by children of reggae artist Denroy Morgan, including Peter "Peetah," Roy "Gramps," Una, Nakhamyah "Lukes" and Memmalatel "Mr. Mojo" Morgan. A leading act of the roots-reggae revival, they won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for "Strictly Roots" in 2016. Lead singer Peetah Morgan died in 2024.

Queen Ifrica (Ventrice Morgan) is a Rastafarian singer and deejay from Montego Bay whose conscious reggae hits include 'Daddy' and 'Lioness on the Rise' (2009); she is among the leading women voices of the modern culture movement.

Etana (born Shauna McKenzie, 1983) is a Jamaican reggae singer from August Town, Saint Andrew, associated with the 2000s roots-reggae revival and known for her conscious, uplifting songs. After early US years and a stint in a vocal group, she launched a solo career with the album The Strong One (2008) and hits such as "Warrior Love," followed by albums including Free Expressions (2011). Her 2014 album I Rise topped the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, and she has received Grammy nominations for Best Reggae Album.
