Dancehall music video director (craft role)
Well supported
The dancehall music video director is a distinct, historically under-credited craft role that grew out of VHS-era stage-show and sound-clash footage once labels and artists needed MTV- and BET-ready visuals to match the music. Directors such as Ras Kassa and Jay Will professionalised the field in the early 2000s, and a later, largely self-taught generation carried it into YouTube- and social-video-era production.
