The historical and doctrinal connection between Rastafari and the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, encouraged by Haile Selassie who, in response to Rastafari veneration, redirected focus toward faith in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church; the church established a presence in Jamaica and some Rastafari (including Bob Marley near the end of his life) were baptised into it.
