The April 1963 Coral Gardens incident in St James, remembered by Rastafari as "Bad Friday": in the year after independence, Jamaican security forces detained large numbers of Rastafari amid a violent clash, an episode later chronicled in the documentary Bad Friday and, in 2017, the subject of an official government apology.
