Michigan & Smiley - Papa Michigan (Anthony Fairclough) and General Smiley (Erroll Bennett) - recorded at Studio One, where their call-and-response single "Rub-a-Dub Style," voiced over the "Vanity" riddim, became a number-one hit. In 1982 producer Henry "Junjo" Lawes recorded their biggest hit, "Diseases," over the "Mad Mad" riddim; their call-and-response style, blending singing and toasting, influenced how later dancehall duos structured vocal delivery.
