The Pioneers were a Jamaican vocal group active from the 1960s, whose best-known lineup featured Sidney Crooks, Jackie Robinson and George Agard (Dennis Dekker's half-brother). Recording for producer Leslie Kong, they scored the 1969 hit "Long Shot Kick de Bucket," a song about a famous racehorse that charted in Britain and led the group to relocate to the UK, where they became early popularisers of reggae.
