Repeater drum

Repeater is the lead drum role in the akete/Nyabinghi ensemble.

The high-pitched repeater plays the improvised syncopation over the bass and funde in Nyabinghi drumming (Bass Culture; Rough Guide to Reggae).

The akete is the lead 'repeater' drum of Nyabinghi, the two names denoting the same high-pitched hand drum (Reggae Routes; Rough Guide to Reggae).

'Kete' is a variant name for the repeater, the tight-headed high drum of the Nyabinghi set (Rough Guide to Reggae).
