Kingston-born roots and early-dancehall singer (1957-2004) nicknamed the "Jamaican Bob Dylan" for his socially observant lyrics, who broke through with 1979's "Step It Up Youthman" and went on to record extensively for Bunny Lee, Studio One, Linval Thompson, Niney the Observer, Prince Jammy and Henry "Junjo" Lawes.
