Cutty Ranks (born Philip Thomas, 1965) is a Jamaican deejay from Kingston who, having worked as a butcher, became a pioneer of hardcore dancehall in the late 1980s and 1990s with a gruff, aggressive delivery. He broke through with tracks such as 'The Bomber' and 'A Who Seh Me Dun', and his 1991 debut album 'The Stopper' was released by Britain's Fashion Records. His records, including 'Limb by Limb', were later widely sampled in jungle, drum and bass and hip-hop.
