Denzil 'Sassafrass' Naar

Well supported

Denzil 'Sassafrass' Naar was a Jamaican dancehall flyer and poster artist, one of the island's most iconic hand-drawn event-sign designers. Working under names like 'the mechanic' and 'the technician', his sharp bubble-lettering and per-letter stencil graphics became widely recognised across Jamaica and the Caribbean through the 1980s and 1990s. His work is preserved in Walshy Fire's book 'Art of Dancehall'. Source note: WePresent/WeTransfer, DJ Mag, Rizzoli, Island Origins.
