Michael Thompson (Freestylee)

Michael 'Freestylee' Thompson (1958-2016) was a Jamaican graphic designer and self-described 'artivist' from Jones Town, Kingston. A Jamaica School of Art graduate influenced by Ras Daniel Heartman and Cuban political poster art, he produced socially engaged reggae and liberation posters and, with Greek designer Maria Papaefstathiou, co-founded the International Reggae Poster Contest, campaigning for a Reggae Hall of Fame museum in Kingston.
