Michael West, born in Islington in 1964, scored a UK #3 hit as Rebel MC with "Street Tuff" (1989) before his 1991 album Black Meaning Good pulled reggae voices including Dennis Brown, Tenor Fly and Barrington Levy into the emerging rave scene; he converted to Rastafari in 1994 and continued as Congo Natty, a central architect of British jungle.
