Sylvan Morris (1946-2020) was a leading Jamaican recording engineer whose work spanned the rocksteady, roots and dancehall eras. After early stints at West Indies Records and Treasure Isle, he became chief engineer at Coxsone Dodd's Studio One from 1968, shaping its distinctive sound, before moving to Harry J Studios, where he engineered Bob Marley and the Wailers albums including Natty Dread and Rastaman Vibration. He later worked for many years at Dynamic Sounds, engineering well over a thousand recordings across his career.
