Theophilus Beckford
Well supported
Theophilus Beckford was a Jamaican pianist and singer whose "Easy Snappin'," recorded around 1959, is widely cited as one of the earliest Jamaican shuffle/R&B recordings to prefigure ska's offbeat feel - a transitional record between mento/R&B and the ska sound that would follow within a year or two.
