Winston "Wee Pow" Powell

Well supported

Winston "Wee Pow" Powell built Stone Love Movement in 1972 in Kingston using locally-built amplifiers. Stone Love became Jamaica's most consistently dominant sound system through a "juggling" style - beat-matched selecting, radio-style patter and exclusive dubplates rather than live artist performance - and helped launch or feature dubplates from Buju Banton, Wayne Wonder, Johnny Osbourne, Shabba Ranks, Sanchez and Beenie Man.
