Winston "Niney" Holness (born 1944), better known as Niney the Observer, is a Jamaican producer, engineer and singer whose nickname reportedly followed a workshop accident that cost him a thumb. After engineering for Joe Gibbs (succeeding Lee "Scratch" Perry) and working with Bunny Lee, his breakthrough came with the self-produced hit "Blood & Fire" (1970) on his Observer label. He became a leading roots-reggae producer, recording Dennis Brown, Delroy Wilson, Junior Delgado and Freddie McGregor; the 1990s reissue label Blood and Fire was named in honour of his hit.
