Heart of the Congos — The Congos

Well supported

1977 roots reggae album produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry at Black Ark, pairing Cedric Myton's falsetto with Roy Johnson and Watty Burnett's harmonies over a band including Boris Gardiner and Ernest Ranglin. A scarce Jamaican pressing at first after Island Records passed on it, the album reached wider audiences only when Blood and Fire reissued it in 1996, and it is now ranked among the greatest reggae albums ever made.
