Alpha, Folkways, NLJ and museum programmes show how Jamaican music knowledge is taught and preserved.
Some of the strongest music-history evidence sits outside the record shop: school programmes, museum lectures, folk-song albums and institutional biographies all explain how musicians are trained, repertoires remembered and claims cross-checked.
Alpha's current music programme extends a long training lineage; Smithsonian Folkways documents Louise Bennett's folk repertory; the National Library of Jamaica provides stable biography references; the Jamaica Music Museum's Grounation series makes scholarship public. These sources should feed source-reference rows and cautious summaries before they become broader claims.
